Welcome to ME034044 - Introduction to Experimental Methods

Course description

The course has two slightly overlapping parts. The first includes lecture and tutorial classes aimed at teaching the basic knowledge required for designing an experimental system, planning an experimental program, and analyzing experimental results. A good understanding of this part is crucial for succeeding in the second part. The second part is focused on projects, in which students are required to design (not to build) a complete experimental system, including all details. The project assignments will describe a mechanical phenomenon to be tested, based on which students will have to define the requirements from the experimental system and its components. Then, students will have to choose appropriate sensors and to design the system and the experimental campaign. During the second part, several pre-schedueld guidance meetings.
